Tilbrooks

        Landscape

Newmarket's July Racecourse recently underwent an extensive renovation

and Tilbrooks were the contractors carrying out the soft Landscaping.

The landscaping included building tiered mounds around display screens that were

then turfed. The client's wanted an instant 'established' look so semi mature trees were

planted along with a pre-grown 'ready hedge' along with large shrub beds.

The 2 photos above are to give a perspective of the size of the root ball on the trees

planted, ranging from 50 - 80 Cm girth with up to 4 metre canopy spreads,

they required a specialist forklift to manoeuvre them on site.

The trees were supplied by Lappen who are based in Germany

The photo above is of the construction of

a reinforced grass area for television

vehicles to park on, to the right of the

picture is the hub where the satellite vans

can connect to the cameras positioned

around the course.

The 3 photos above are of the trees once planted, the trees were planted

with underground guys to support them instead of the traditional wooden stakes.

they also had irrigation pipes installed around the rootball to ensure water reaches

the roots, this will also aid air circulation as the roots establish.

The photos above are of the finished project, well, we'd finished our bit on site.

The trees had all the branches tied to prevent them being damaged whilst being

installed, we then had to remove these ties using a cherry picker.

The picture on the far right is of the instant hedging, it was installed at that height during the winter

and was watered heavily, along with the trees, during the spring and summer to reduce plant stress

and to ensure that it survived.
